Aids. Do you know?

“AIDS in America today is a black disease,” says Phill Wilson, founder and CEO of the institute and himself HIV-positive for 20 years. “2006 CDC data tell us that about half of the just over 1 million Americans living with HIV or AIDS are black.”

Even if we know the statistics, what does it matter?  Information does not translate into wisdom.  We have been told before how this disease is ravenging our community.  Will it take more money to make a difference?  I believe the it won’ t happen to me syndrome prevents us from acting responsibility.  The disease itself has no color nor does it discriminate.  It is an equal opportunity offender.  How do we eliminate this within our community?  Much is known about this disease but it still spreads exponentially.  This highlights how ambivalence coupled with apathy manifest in destruction
