Is there anything wrong with being a Black Republican?

Thanks to a fellow blogger, blackandmarriedwithkids.com.  I have pondered this question.   I am often mistaken for a Black Republican since I tend to want government to get out of my way.  I don’t want to pay more in taxes.  I don’t want someone to take from another man to give to me.  I believe that it is better to teach a man to fish rather than to give him a fish.  See when you give him a fish he will come back the next day and ask for another one.  If someone saw a grown man sucking on a pacifier we would think that was wrong.  What if a grown man was still breast feeding,  wouldn’t that be ridiculous.   Most of us black folks expect our worlds to improve drastically if Barack Obama wins.  I don’t because the President is limited.  Congress has the power.  Some of the changes will eventually be problematic later in life.  Just one example.  Has anyone noticed that the age of retirement keeps creeping up.  Why is that and does it matter?  Well because the government that us blacks folk love, keeps spending your social security money and therefore they need more money.  So they changed the retirement age.  Most black men die before ever seeing their retirement income from social security.  That to me is asinine.

So being a democrat or a republican is not the issue.  What you stand for is.  Martin Luther King would probably be socially conservative and fiscally liberal.  He probably would not agree with the Democratic party on abortion.  Actually most black people don’t but yet we support the democratic party 95%. Are they Santa Claus bearing gifts  to get us out of poverty?  Vote however you feel just know why you are voting.  Having a black as the President is going to be great for only one reason.  It says you can accomplish your dreams even in America independent of your race.  That is a very important message.  With that we will get more abortions on demand.  Higher taxes, regardless of your income as long as you have an income.   A higher retirement age.  More open borders.  More money into education, but no better education because money is not the only problem there.  A little more money into our communities which will be good.  No change in the number of blacks in prison.  No change in the number of high school drop outs.  Many of the issues that are not going to change are because they are typically not problems for the government to solve.  Power in the hand of man ultimately corrupts the man if he is not respectful of those who gave him the power.  Does anyone believe the people in Washington respect or care what you think?  I am very excited to see a Black Man become President because that will inspire a lot of us to get off of our butts hopefully.

Biden. Sabotager or Supporter

What is Biden doing?

How is it that while they are on the verge of winning Joe Biden speaks about an international crisis testing Barack in his first  six months?  Wouldn’t this be something that causes people to question Barack’s readiness and maybe vote for McCain since this is Barack’s vulnerable spot?

Biden:

“Mark my words,” the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday. “It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We’re about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don’t remember anything else I said. Watch, we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.”

Colin Powell: Endorses Barack Obama? did he have a choice

Many people admire Colin Powell for his service to our country with honor, dignity, and respect.  He announced today that he would endorse Barack Obama for President.  I ask what choice did he have?  For the first time in American history you have a Black Man who is more than likely to become the next President.  Though Colin Powell has been a Republican and served as Secretary of State under a Republican President, the shear weight and momentum of historic precedent forced his hand.  He in my estimation did not want to be the lone national Black figure to not endorse Barack Obama.  He has been called a sell-out by many black people but his legacy would have been ripped to shreds and he would have been embarrassed as a Black man to say he did not vote for Barack Obama.  Black Republicans are conflicted because you have something possible that they want as well even though their ideology is perpendicular to Barack Obama.  That is why a Black republican like JC Watts finds a reason to denounce the Republicans and tacitly support Barack Obama.  This momentous occasion garners significant gravity and relentlessly whips blacks of all walks to stand up and say they support Barack.  My question is this, when will the infighting start?  If you have been to a family reunion or let’s say a funeral things are good for a while and then the honeymoon starts.  At that point, the word knives and sometimes the real knives come out.  Will it be over cabinet appointments, supreme court judges, taxation, funding of education, what will cause the first fight?  Will it be based on whether or not Rev. Jesse Jackson gets enough money for his causes?

Obama shutting World Series down

Article:  Play ball not yet

This brother who will more than likely be the next President of the United States, is already being treated like royalty.  He will be paying for 30 minute slots to run advertisements during the World Series.  The network will make a concession and delay the start of the World Series for 15 minutes.  Is that some kind of clout or what?  Who else would the media do this for?  In my estimation only Oprah has this kind of power and I am not sure she could pull that off.

One-time MLK lieutenant gets 15 years for incest

Article: MLK Lieutenant sentenced for incest

We know people have issues and can change over time for better or for worse.  The legacy of Dr. King has taken some recent hits with his children fighting publicly and not representing his dream and aspirations.  But the preacher who has been convicted of incest is a body blow to Dr. King’s legacy.  The good news is that America has already solidified Dr. King’s legacy through selecting Barack Obama.  This case breaks your heart though.

The rest of the campaign

I heard something today that made me realise something.  Last night during the debate the two Presidential candidates agreed unknowingly that the rest of the campaign will be about taxes and spending.  John McCain will attempt to show that Barack will make government bigger and spend more.  McCain opened up an  opportunity for his campaign that may close the gap some through an unsuspecting bystander called Joe.  Joe the plumber is now the face of this race.  McCain will keep it that way and that helps him.  Many people may identify with Joe and therefore may decide whose policies will best help Joe and themselves.  The election is not over by far and the polls which will vary wildly show the race tightening.  For McCain to win, this election has to be about someone other than himself.  He is old, uncharismatic, intelligent but boring, and therefore lacks a connection with people.  Thus he needed Sarah Palin to galvanize supporters and she has.  Now he needed someone else to pin his economic face on and he has found him in Joe the plumber.  If you talked with him alone with no chance of a leak, McCain himself would have said there is no chance he would win prior to last night’s debate.  Now that he has a chance he is now enthusiastic, with some air underneath his wings.  In the end he alone will have to make the case that he is the one people are voting for because Joe is not on the ballot, McCain is.  This will be a cliff hanger and will be down to the last votes.

Who is hurting Barack?

John Murtha

With friends like this you don’t need enemies.  Representative John Murtha of Pennsylvania stated that Western Pennsylvania is racist but that Barack Obama should win.  Now will this make people in Pennsylvania more or less likely to vote for Barack Obama?  This state is critical for Barack to win.  So what is Murtha doing?  Helping or hurting Barack? Article:Murtha: Western Pa. ‘racist’ but Obama should win

Jesse Jackson

Here comes Jesse on the scene to help Barack or some would say hurt Barack.  Jesse stated recently that Israel would not be the central theme of the American foreign policy.  Jackson believes that, although “Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades” remain strong, they’ll lose a great deal of their clout when Barack Obama enters the White House.  Is this what you want someone to say when you are trying to win Floria, or New York?  It just doesn’t make sense to me.  I would say thanks but no thanks for your help.
