Willie Brown Will Make you Mad as Hell

I am not advocating one position or another, but think about what he is saying.  Barack is in trouble.

This article isn’t necessarily depth in content but if a party insider such as Willie Brown picks up certain vibes and signals then we should pay attention.  Willie Brown is the former mayor of San Francisco.

Are we intellectually honest?

We all have people we like?  Do we give them a pass on issues that we would not permit with other people.  Some in the media went after Sarah Palin because of her teenage daughter’s pregnancy.  What was your initial response.  And who do you support in this election campaign?  If you are a Barack supporter, would your view and reaction be different if it were one of Barack’s daughters leaping many years from now of course?  How do you feel if you are a McCain supporter.  I have found that when someone likes another person the truth about that person and how we feel about different things seems to get blurred or diverges fairly significantly from our normal attitudes.  This feels normal but seems dishonest intellectually.  What do you think?

O.J. Jury Selection & You

Could you be on OJ’s jury for the kidnapping and armed robbery case out in Vegas?  I know his murder trial was polarizing and tragic since 2 people lost their lives.  Most people believe he did it or had something to do with it.  Could you sit on his jury and be objective?  Emotions run high when even his name is mentioned.  You would have to agree that you would not be prejudiced going into the case and that his history would not sway you in any way.

Article:OJ’s kidnapping trial

The lawyers are having trouble seating a jury given OJ’s notoriety.   Would you be willing to be on the jury or could you be objective and if found guilty return a guilty verdict, and if innocent return an innocent verdict?

Can Obama get his groove back?

Obama has lost a little in enthusiasm, momentum, financial support, and voter support.

Article:Obama’s lost groove

As expected there has been a bounce in the polls for John McCain immediately following the Republican Convention.   You can’t count any of these guys out.  McCain was down a year ago, Obama was down at the beginning of his aspirations to become President.  This will be a bitter fight at all levels.  Who wins will depend on how they are perceived by the independents.  Obama’s problem is he is young and not really known as a political entity.  McCain’s problem is he is old and tied to President Bush.  Sarah Palin may be the difference.

Woman switching sides

This Presidential election as always will hinge on swing voters.  Women appear to be that group.  I thought when Obama decided not to select Hillary as his running mate that he left an opening for McCain.  However, I did not believe McCain would choose a woman but I thought that would be his best move.  He caught everyone by surprise and now he has energized his base by choosing Palin.  The problem for Barack is that Joe Biden doesn’t excite anyone.  Who would vote for Biden if Barack were not running? This election looks to be decided by who has the momentum going into November. McCain has it at the moment.  In politics 2 months is an eternity so things can change drastically in that time.

Right now the dirt teams are scouring in Palin’s past to see what they can find.  October surprises are common in Presidential politics, so this one will be no different.  Will there be enough in her past to take her down?  So far all they have is that she may have fired someone vindictively.

Obama had a 32 point lead among women less than 2 weeks ago and now that lead is down to 12.  A 20 point swing in such a short period of time shows the impact Palin has had.  You could also say people who did not want to vote for Barack now have a reason to vote for McCain that they did not have before.  This will be a very close election unless we have some major surprises between now and November.
